I Am the King

… Francis is a very emotive vocalist – his voice easily flirts with quiet intimacy and just as quickly transforms to a rock wail during the guitar-drenched chorus of this modern power ballad. Melodic piano is the lead instrument in “I Am the King,” which uses clever dynamics as the track changes from a quiet piano melody to a full-on rock tune as Francis exclaims, “It’s hard to see what others see when you no longer dream.”

it has just begun
just begun to come undone
it’s happened again
sometimes it’s hard to feel
sometimes it’s just all too real
I bleed my heart out
send me down again
send me down to reel and spin
I’m on the floor now
save me from this fate
I don’t want the days to stay the same
I’m ready to quit now

become my only friend
on you I know I can depend
at least ‘till the morning
the high point of my night
the time for me to feel alive
though just for a moment

no future in my eyes
there’s nothing left to realize
or so it seems now
sometimes it’s hard to see
it’s hard to see what others see
when you no longer dream

become my only friend
on you I know I can depend
at least ‘till the morning
the high point of my night
the time for me to feel alive
though just for a moment
I am the king
